Why I Started GUMBO

I've always been drawn to things that are made well.

A favourite pen. A well-worn leather jacket. A ceramic cup used every morning. Objects that earn their place through use, not novelty.

The best products aren't necessarily the most complicated. They're the ones you reach for every day without thinking. They become part of your routine, gathering stories and character over time.

When it came to oral care, I realised nothing felt that way.

Everything was designed to be hidden away in a cupboard. Plastic bottles. Disposable products. Clinical packaging. Functional, but forgettable.

It felt strange that something we use every day received so little thought.

So I started building GUMBO.

Not to reinvent oral care, but to reimagine how it feels.

GUMBO is a collection of objects designed to be displayed, used and enjoyed. A refillable bottle, a ceramic cup, a simple daily ritual. Small details that encourage us to slow down, even if only for a moment.

Because I believe the things we use every day deserve the same attention as the things we admire.

Buy less. Choose well. Use it often.
